Novatel Wireless selected as M2M module provider for TIESSE SpA Italy

Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVTL), provider of intelligent wireless solutions, today announced that it has been selected by TIESSE SpA, an Italian Telemetry device manufacturer for its M2M enabler modules. The enabler module is being integrated into TIESSE’s Levanto routers providing one of the largest Italian utilities with upgraded communication for Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) concentrators.

“We are excited to be working with Novatel Wireless delivering these industry solutions,” said Managing Director of TIESSE, Fabrizia Montefiori. “The enabler technology is a key component of our solution ensuring high performance, a reliable and always-on service which continues to be a primary focus for us.”

TIESSE’s Levanto router works as a communication gateway for the data concentrator which handles the automatic meter reading for electricity meters, including periodic and on-demand reading, saving of meter data, meter supervision, tampering notification etc. The Levanto router is based on robust industrial grade design and chassis (IP54-rated) for external use designed to operate under extreme conditions and temperatures. With security features, remote monitoring and configuration capabilities, the solution has been optimised for reducing traffic costs and improved overall quality of the router. ”

Building on the proven design of the Enfora Enabler series, the Novatel Wireless Enabler module is a small, low power platform delivering industry performance, reliable connectivity, design and device intelligence needed for today’s demanding M2M applications. These include security, remote maintenance and control (RMAC), automatic vehicle location (AVL) and asset tracking, point of sale (POS), mHealth, and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and automatic meter reading (AMR).
