Telit and Nimble Wireless extend life of flexible fleet and asset monitoring solutions

Telit Wireless Solutions, a global provider of high-quality machine-to-machine (M2M) modules and services, has announced that its embedded modules are enabling cellular communication for Nimble Wireless, Inc. — a global player in Internet of Things, M2M and connected devices and solutions — in its latest product family for fleet and asset tracking applications, Toucan.

Toucan leverages the low power consumption of Telit’s C24, G24L and H24 modules along with Nimble’s own eXPo low power technology to extend battery life to up to three years for state of the art tracking solutions. The Toucan family is complemented by Nimble’s IRIS, a user-friendly web portal providing a comprehensive tracking solution and simple adoption path for asset tracking customers.

“Telit’s discrete modules allowed us to maintain the small dimensions of our Toucan device, enabling the monitoring and tracking of assets of any size,” said Naveen Sabapathy, President of Nimble Wireless Inc. “Leveraging the form factor compatibility of three Telit modules, we were able to create GSM, CDMA and HSPA versions of Toucan with a single device design, providing flexibility for our customers in selecting service providers and achieving optimum cellular network coverage for mobile solutions.”

A compact, rugged tracking and monitoring device with an extended battery life, Toucan was designed for both mobile and fixed M2M solutions to capture and transmit critical data for remote assets. Featuring low power consumption, Toucan is ideal for applications ranging from vehicle and cargo tracking to cold freezer and ATM machine monitoring, all of which benefit from a long life in the field.

Telit’s C24, G24L and H24 modules make up one of Telit’s many form factor families with their pin-to-pin compatibility, allowing customers to integrate a range of network technologies into their M2M devices. The C24 and H24 modules each feature on-board GPS capabilities for feature-rich GPS solutions while the G24L presents a low-cost option for high-volume asset monitoring deployments.
