devolo launches new Home Control app update

Home networking provider devolo is adding new updates to the iOS app used to control its smart home system, Home Control. devolo Home Control offers a DIY solution for those looking to take advantage of the comfort, ease, security and energy savings home automation offers.

The latest app update makes controlling the intelligent home even more convenient for iOS users. With the latest update, the app can be configured to install a Home Control widget in the iOS Notification Centre providing even faster access to the most important Home Control functions.

The topics of this press release:

    • Now even faster and more convenient
    • Improved feedback function
    • Next updates: Geofencing and Google Home
    • Greater comfort, security and energy savings with Home Control

Now even faster and more convenient

The latest update to the iOS app makes operating your Home Control system faster and more convenient. Now users don’t even need to start up the Home Control app to access a number of functions. With a swipe from top to bottom users can directly access devices, scenes, rules, groups and time control settings directly from the lock screen.

In the Home Control widget, iOS users can simply touch the respective icon of the smart device or the function (scene, rule, time control setting) to turn these on and off or, for example, to quickly adjust the radiator to the desired temperature. Users can decide which devices, scenes, rules, groups or time control settings are displayed on the widget for quick access to a number of functions, such as adjusting a thermostat, activating an alarm or switching on a lamp.

Improved feedback function

With the new update users can easily, quickly and conveniently turn a desired element including adapters, scenes, rules, groups and time control settings, on or off by tapping the icon. The iOS app now gives better feedback when playing back Home Control scenes too. During the playback of a scene, the user will also receive visible feedback in the app.

Next updates: Geofencing and Google Home

In another upcoming app update, Home Control will also offer a geofencing function. With this feature the Home Control system will update the desired settings automatically. For example, if no one is home the alarm function will be activated and the radiators will be turned down.

This function also operates in the opposite manner. When you get close to home, the radiator in the living room is turned up, the lights switch on and the stereo starts automatically. In the future, Home Control will also be controllable through Google Home—quite simply by using voice activation. This feature is already possible with Amazon Alexa.

Greater comfort, security and energy savings with Home Control

devolo’s Home Control system offers a total of twelve different components including those for adjusting light settings, monitoring temperatures and providing automated home security alerts. devolo Home Control is available in stores and online.

The Home Control Starter Pack, consisting of a Central Unit, Door/Window Contact and Smart Metering Plug, is available at a recommended retail price of £179.99 (€205.11). Additional components—from the Wall Switch to the Radiator Thermostat—start at a recommended retail price of £34.99 (€39.87). There are no monthly user fees involved. Compatible products from third-party vendors can also be integrated into the system.

This includes, in principle, all Z-Wave certified devices and the Philips HUE smart lighting control. Users can monitor and control their smart home system directly through the Home Control app and the my devolo online portal from anywhere in the world via smartphones, tablets and PCs.
