Telit attains Zigbee Pro and Smart Energy certification

Telit Telit

Telit Wireless Solutions,a global vendor of machine-to-machine modules and value-added services, announced the achievement of Zigbee PRO and Smart Energy software certification. Telit’s in-house-developed software stack received certification for full compliance to standard version 1.1 for device classes Home Display and Energy Service Interface.

Because of the higher degree of flexibility derived from total control over this key software element, Telit can quickly adapt its products to the broad range of differing demands typical of the emerging smart-grid, smart-home, and smart metering markets.

In addition the certified ZigBee PRO protocol stack provides a ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP), enabling users to quickly and easily develop products that can achieve ZigBee Certified Product status.

ZigBee devices provide two-way communication and data transmission while not being subject to recurring air-time charges within the local environment as in the case of cellular wireless data. Achieving this certification indicates that the Telit stack was found to be fully compliant to specifications from the ZigBee Alliance.

It also means that the company’s products based on it can be integrated into Smart Meters or Smart Home panels and devices being tendered in projects required to comply with these standards as are most of the larger scale government driven initiatives worldwide.

The ZigBee product line from Telit is augmented by its other lines in cellular and GPS technology, and by a full complement of value-added services including global cellular connectivity. These are all necessary components that need to be come together in bringing solutions to the fast growing Smart-X market.

The ZigBee Alliance is one of the fastest growing associations of member companies spanning the spectrum of vertical segments. Its main purpose is to advance the cause of devising and maintaining standards for interoperability of devices over low-power short range radio. It is one of the industry’s leading standards bodies for wireless short range devices, highly suitable for power-sensitive or battery-operated application areas such as Smart Meters and Smart Homes. With Smart Metering utility companies can measure, collect, and analyze consumption data more frequently, improving system-wide management.

“Telit’s ability now to quickly customise its certified ZigBee PRO – Smart Energy stack means that our customers can integrate end products like utility meters and home control devices with surgical precision and fit to their market requirements”

, said Dominikus Hierl, chief marketing officer at Telit Wireless Solutions.

“This makes Telit the first M2M vendor to meet one of the most fundamental requirements from system integrators. To provide them the ability to create products that can be easily adapted to various projects in different geographies thereby lowering their costs and improving ROI.”
