ProLabs, the provider of optical transceiver, announced it will be debuting its innovative new transponder offering at OFC 2018 – the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals – taking place March 13-15 in San Diego.
The ProLabs 100G transponder, the EON-121 Transponder product set, is one of the smallest of its kind, standing out from similar offerings by boasting the lowest power consumption for a 100G transponder. Compact and power efficient, the launch comes following the successful debut of ProLabs 100G Green transceivers in 2017.
“The launch of our new transponder demonstrates our ongoing commitment to partnering with our customers to really make the most of their infrastructure by enabling greater capacity over longer reaches,” said Caroline Green, chief operating officer at ProLabs.
“The transponder provides flexibility with operational simplicity, and when combined with our full range of compatible transceivers, gives utmost control over infrastructure development to our customers at an affordable price, with no compromise to the quality of data transmission that they demand.”
The debut of the EON-121 marks a significant milestone for ProLabs, as 100G transponders are a new technology segment for the company and enable it to begin offering complete solutions to its customers. The transponder addresses the ever-increasing demand for connectivity and bandwidth requirements by virtue of it being a small form factor (thereby minimising costs associated with rack space in data centres) which can then be deployed close to the source of traffic.
