Berlin distributor extends range of embedded wireless modules

Berlin-based distributor Nova Media presented a generation of embedded wireless modules from Option at Embedded World in Nuremberg this week.

With support of penta-band HSPA, AWS, GPS as well as Glonass, voice and Wifi, these modules can be deployed worldwide.

The modules are available in full size PCIe, half size PCIe as well as LGA packages. They can thus be used within embedded systems as well as in routers, notebooks and PCs.

The modules have worldwide regulatory approvals, integrated GPS and Glonass chipsets and provide voice as well as Wifi capabilities. Fast HSPA internet connections can be established with up to 14.4Mbit/s download and up to 5.76Mbit/s upload. All modules support quad-band Edge and GPRS connections.

“Stable drivers for Linux and Windows offer a reliable service in all circumstances,” said Jan Fuellemann, spokesperson for Nova Media. “We add advanced technical support for developers, resellers and system integrators alike.”

Regarding software deployment, Nova Media provides a complete range of development services, beginning with kernel drivers for real time Linux systems up to the creation of microcontrollers and the required firmware. The company takes care of the complete design cycle for embedded systems, from consultation services and concept work up to the actual development, verification and prototype creation.

“Wireless embedded modules from Option are used in the communications between ATM machines and between buoys, ships and headquarters of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency of Germany, for example,” said Fuellemann. “A uniform approach for all the modules ensures that an existing module can be replaced without much expense for one with enhanced functionality.”
