The new partnership of China-based cloud service provider, Alibaba Cloud and telecoms software provider, ZTEsoft will inevitably bring new products to the market for telecom network operators.
Here, Mr. Xianglong Huang, director of partner network at Alibaba Cloud and CTO of ZTEsoft, tells Jeremy Cowan of IoT Now how telcos will benefit from this new relationship.
IoT Now: You will be speaking at the ZTEsoft Together Summit on Alibaba Cloud’s vision and strategy for entering the telco industry. Can you tell us more about it?
Xianglong Huang: Alibaba Group and Alibaba Cloud’s task is to make it easy to do business everywhere. Alibaba Cloud is the third largest cloud service provider* and the fastest growing cloud service provider for the last three years. We provide a comprehensive suite of cloud services and have served over one million paid customers.
The telco industry has been providing basic cloud technology infrastructure that becomes the foundation of the Internet society today. Alibaba Group has been successfully working with top telco companies in China to provide more scalable and flexible cloud technology services with a cloud native infrastructure.
We believe that, with the expertise on the telco industry from ZTEsoft, there is a unique opportunity for telcos and Alibaba Group to work together on building a more flexible and efficient infrastructure fueling fast-growing businesses on both telecommunication services and on the Internet, especially for the international market outside China.
IoT Now: Alibaba Cloud and ZTEsoft are forming a close partnership which underpins the whole Summit in Nice this May. What is the goal of the partnership?
Xianglong Huang: First, we’d like to point out that this is the first time we have a major cloud service provider to take part in a major telecommunication software provider. This gives a unique bridge between these two industries. With the help of ZTEsoft, Alibaba Cloud will gain much deeper understanding of the telecom industry and help telecom companies in transformation to become more flexible, scalable, stable, and more cloud native.
In the meantime, Alibaba Cloud will also provide ZTEsoft with cloud native expertise and transform ZTEsoft to be a powerful partner for other companies in digital transformations.
IoT Now: Can you give examples of how this alliance will help different industry sectors to achieve the digital transformation they are planning, and what new solutions can we expect to see in the market as a result of the partnership?
Xianglong Huang: As I mentioned before, this partnership looks to combine expertise and efforts from both sides and empower digital transformation for telcos and all industry players.
Alibaba Cloud and ZTEsoft help telcos implement and operate cloud business and migrate its ZSmart solutions over Alibaba Cloud and open capabilities in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model to serve all-industry business customers. In addition, Embedded with artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics technologies, the ET Telecom Brain will empower telecom business and allows communication service providers (CSPs) to harness the power of digital transformation.
For companies who seek new revenues in vertical industries, we bring together the range of expertise and abilities required to unlock the business value in IoT and explore vertical industries with ET Brains. We will focus on three initial-stage ET Brain solutions for our industry customers – ET City Brain to enable urban planners and city officials to upgrade their city governance and decision-making to create a smart city; ET Industry Brain to help companies adopt centralised data management in manufacturing with cloud computing infrastructures; and ET New Retail Brain to construct a new model of in-depth retail integration.
