Otii, receives a major software update bringing enhanced features and greater productivity

Vanja Samuelsson of Qoitech

Qoitech AB announced the release of version 2.0.0 of the Otii multi-platform desktop software environment that supports the Otii Arc, the innovative energy consumption analysis hardware for developers. Together, Otii’s hardware and software helps engineers maximise battery life and minimise power consumption in fixed, portable and connected devices targeting the IoT.

Otii is an energy consumption analysis solution that lets engineers measure true power usage in real-time at the nA scale. With the release of Version 2.0.0, developers now have access to a range of productivity improvements, including improved battery simulation, full visualisation of GPIO and SENSE pins, and alerts for common hardware errors, along with major improvements to the User Interface (UI). Data export features have also been improved, adding more resolution to the value of the timestamps applied to the data captured, to better support further analysis.

“We are constantly evolving the Otii platform to surpass developers’ needs,” said Vanja Samuelsson, founder of Qoitech. “Many of the improvements incorporated into this release were suggested by our community and will benefit all existing and future customers.”

The Otii software environment is available as a download from Qoitech’s website to enable developers to quickly experience the benefits of Otii. The platform also supports scripts, written in the popular, lightweight and embeddable scripting language, Lua. This provides a powerful yet simple way to get the most out of the Arc hardware; new Lua scripting functions have been added to the latest software release to provide improved battery simulation, for example.

The latest version of the desktop software features numerous enhancements to the UI and is released alongside version 1.0.8 of the firmware for the Arc hardware. The UI now displays the current versions of the hardware and firmware, as well as providing alerts for available updates. The software environment is available in Standard (free) and Premium license versions to support the Otii hardware; premium customers have access to extended analysis features and premium technical support. The Otii hardware is available to ship immediately from Digi-Key.
