Avnet Silica extends its wireless technology portfolio with Digi International

Laurence Dellicott of Avnet

Avnet Silica, an Avnet company, announced it has been appointed as a franchised distributor for the EMEA region for products from Digi International, a global provider of Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity products and services.

The new relationship between Avnet Silica and Digi International is part of the recently announced global agreement whereby Avnet was appointed as one of Digi International’s global distribution partners. Avnet Silica has therefore become a major channel in the EMEA region to service the fast-growing market for Digi International’s wireless products and technologies.

“It’s a privilege to announce an extended relationship with Avnet. As a leading EMEA distributor of electronic components, Avnet Silica allows Digi International to deepen its presence throughout the region,” says Chris Bowen, Digi International vice president, EMEA sales.

Digi International is a globally recognised brand and is especially well known for its advanced wireless and System-on-Module (SOM) solutions for industrial markets and with Digi XBee RF modems and cellular modems.

In addition, Digi International is a preferred partner for NXP, which further augments and strengthens Avnet Silica’s portfolio of wireless solutions that are based around NXP’s advanced semiconductor technologies.

While all of Digi International’s products and technologies will be available via Avnet Silica, a key focus for the distributor will be in the area of RF and embedded SOMs for industrial IoT markets and applications.

“Digi International is fast making itself into one of the world’s leading vendors of secure and highly reliable wireless components, technologies and solutions for a range of industrial markets, including food services, facilities monitoring, retail and healthcare, as well as the transportation and logistics sectors,” said Laurence Dellicott, director Supplier Management at Avnet Silica. “The Digi International product portfolio is also an excellent complement to our existing industrial IoT solutions, and we look forward to bringing these innovative technologies to market.”
