EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Morrisville, North Carolina, USA. January 30, 2013 — Jasper Wireless, a leading connected devices platform for M2M and consumer electronics, is deploying Tekelec’s Policy Server (PCRF) to provide the scalability and flexibility M2M services require.

Tekelec’s PCRF sets rules governing when devices transmit information in order to minimise congestion and maximise capacity over 3G and LTE networks. It can apply different qualities of service to different machines and implement flexible service plans based on transactions, connections, time of day, location, applications, or data usage.

“Jasper Wireless is the leading partner for mobile operators around the world to manage their machine-to-machine (M2M) and connected device services,” said Daniel Collins, CTO at Jasper Wireless. “As a result, our operator partners rely on us for best-in-class solutions and that’s a big reason why we selected Tekelec. Jasper Wireless’ highly configurable solution offers automation of operational processes, including custom device provisioning, instant activation, real-time diagnostic tools and detailed billing and usage reports, to ensure customers benefit from an enhanced user experience.”

“Jasper’s services are helping mobile operators capitalise on an M2M revenue opportunity that will grow to nearly US$1.2 trillion by 2020 according to the GSMA,” said Doug Suriano, CTO of Tekelec. “Tekelec’s Policy Server will ensure that Jasper can scale its deployment of connected devices and services quickly and profitably.”

Industry analyst and consulting firm, Analysys Mason has estimated that there were 100.4 million connected devices at the end of 2011, with the number forecast to rise to 2.1 billion by 2021.

Tekelec are the architects of the new Diameter network, the foundation for session, policy and subscriber data management. According to the company, more than 300 service providers now use its systems to deliver cloud, machine-to-machine and personalised services to consumers and enterprises.

Jasper Wireless aims to enables mobile network operators around the world with platform, applications, and design services to serve the machine-to-machine and embedded devices markets. Using its end-to-end solution, network operators and enterprises can reportedly scale their deployment of connected devices quickly and profitably. Jasper Wireless’ operator partners include AT&T, América Móvil, Telefónica, NTT DOCOMO, KPN, VimpelCom, SingTel, Etisalat, Telstra, and Rogers.
