IHS Markit predicts that there will be around 75.4 billion Internet of Things (IoT) devices in the world by 2025. In a few years it will be normal to see internet connected devices appear in most industrial and consumer sectors.

Business owners are always trying to increase productivity in the workplace. They can introduce exercise breaks, have standing meetings and organise team-building days. However, in the manufacturing sector, these initiatives are unlikely to have an impact.

According to Statista, there were 453 million connected wearable devices worldwide in 2018, a figure thatis predicted to increase to 593 million this year. While, unsurprisingly, the market is currently dominated by smart watches, you may be surprised at the benefits wearables 

The top three countries that are leaders in manufacturing have remained fairly similar over the last few decades. The US, China and Germany have continued evolving to export a large amount of products to the world. To remain high in the ranks, these countries have adopted automation, optimised their manufacturing processes and advanced production processes.

Science fiction writer, Ray Bradbury once said, ‘Living at risk is jumping off a cliff and building your wings on the way down.’ Though this is a truly inspiring thought, I’m not convinced that construction or even cognitive thought would be at the forefront of someone’s mind when faced with a precipice.
