Esri integrates LightBox data to extend geocoding of Canadian content

Robert Jensen of Esri

Redlands, California. 2 June 2022 – To find, map and analyse other forms of valuable geospatial information, industries need the X and Y coordinates of place names. Users in many industries have addresses or place names in various states of integrity and want to turn that information into actionable intelligence. To meet this need, Esri , the world specialist in location intelligence, has partnered with LightBox, a real estate data analytics provider, to offer advanced geocoding solutions in Canada.

The service is available to both ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Platform users. The LightBox enhancement will provide more accurate geocoding of locations relative to addresses, sub-addresses, or places with multiple units. The ArcGIS Platform, a geospatial platform as a service, offers developers direct access to location services through the Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and web frameworks of their choice, whether they support dozens of or millions of users.

Following the launch of the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service on May 31, the collaboration between Esri and LightBox brings more accurate geocoding solutions to ArcGISusers. Esri also provides advanced geocoding needs through ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS World Geocoder, and ArcGIS StreetMap Premium.

“LightBox (formerly DMTI Spatial) offers the addressing and sub-addressing solution for high-precision geocoding,” says AJ Dunklau, general manager of LightBox’s Location Intelligence Division. “Now, Esri users will be able to access this robust data, leveraging LightBox’s 20 years of Canadian location intelligence database development. Our partnership enables these users to benefit from accurate geocoding data and explore data solutions.” wider Canadians than LightBox can provide.”

The ArcGIS World Geocoding Service covers more than 90% of the world’s population and offers street-level geocoding for more than 150 countries. The new collaboration with LightBox highlights Esri’s commitment to improving the user experience both inside and outside the US.

“We are excited to provide our users with the best address information available in Canada,” says Robert Jensen, director of geocoding products at Esri. “Having exceptional address coverage, currency and accuracy enables users who rely on spatially accurate addresses to make effective decisions. Integrating LightBox data into ArcGIS gives them confidence in Esri’s ability to deliver a robust geocoding experience.”
