Telecom Italia is fourth to join the Global M2M Association for 'enhanced M2M services'

Telecom Italia

June 22, 2013 — The Global M2M Association (GMA), a co-operation agreement in the machine-to-machine (M2M) sector between TeliaSonera, Orange and Deutsche Telekom, has now welcomed Telecom Italia to the fold, Georgina Elrington reports.

Together, they say they are committed to delivering best-in-class, enhanced and seamless M2M services. “The addition of Telecom Italia to the Global M2M Association means we can collaborate to make it easier for businesses across Europe, including customers in our core markets in the Nordic and Baltics, to deploy and manage M2M solutions in Italy, one of Europe’s largest economies”, commented Hans Dahlberg, head of TeliaSonera Global M2M Services.

The GMA provides global coverage with an unmatched European footprint of 28 countries, or 94% of the European population. At its core is a strong commitment to enable unsurpassed global M2M solutions across multiple borders, as well as sectors including traditional telemetering services, critical eHealth solutions, automotive commercial services as well as consumer electronics for connected devices.

It provides customers with business benefits such as; roaming services for a seamless customer experience, enhanced interoperability via a module certification programme to provide a unified and industrialised approach toward M2M product specifications across a wide range of devices), faster go-to-market opportunities, and partnership development.

Mario Polosa, director of the M2M project office at Telecom Italia, added: “The M2M market is already moving quickly, with customers demanding harmonised service architectures without borders. We are firmly convinced that the GMA model is the best solution to consolidate and develop domestic and global opportunities together with our partners.”
