G4S Utility Services is to provide Macquarie with a fully accredited meter asset provider (MAP) system with an ongoing data management service.
G4S is one of the UK’s largest national providers of field metering and data management services. The initial three-year contract is with Macquarie’s Corporate and Asset Finance Group, one of the UK’s leading smart meter financiers,
The system will be delivered from G4S’ head office in Newcastle and will support Macquarie’s continued growth providing energy meters across the UK.
“Macquarie is the leading meter asset provider in the UK market and is an existing partner to G4S in the domestic and commercial smart metering sectors,” said Kim Challis, managing director, G4S Utility Services. “We are delighted to be providing Macquarie with this key service which leverages our extensive industry and process knowledge. We will be tailoring our in-house dual fuel meter operations systems to deliver this service accordingly.”
The contract includes the opportunity, at a later date, to expand volumes and terms in line with the UK Smart Meter deployment programme. The contract builds on G4S’s existing smart meter provision services for British Gas.
“We are pleased to be able to further extend our relationship with G4S Utility Services to deliver this contract,” said John Wilson, executive director at Macquarie.
“The benefit of the flexibility that G4S offered, having already invested in industry leading metering processes, was particularly attractive to us when making this decision.”
