TEE Conference 2014

GlobalPlatform To Host Second Dedicated TEE Event Following the Success of 2013 Conference
Association opens call for papers to solicit contributions to the agenda

Standardization body, GlobalPlatform, is to host its second, annual conference which focuses on advancing the trusted execution environment (TEE) landscape. The event, scheduled for Tuesday 30 September 2014 in Santa Clara, California, will offer an insight into TEE use cases and deployments, and the vast opportunities presented by this technology for the deployment of trusted applications in open environments.

The ‘GlobalPlatform Presents the TEE: Next Generation Mobile Security for Today and Tomorrow’ conference will showcase the value of the TEE – a secure area that resides in the main processor of a mobile device and ensures that data is stored, processed and protected in a secure environment. Last year’s speakers and panellists, which included a keynote from Sony Pictures Entertainment, addressed a full-to-capacity room of more than 200 delegates, representing 108 different companies from 13 countries. “Our aim for 2014 is to build upon this success and further advance the message and mission around this innovative new technology,” comments Kevin Gillick, Executive Director of GlobalPlatform.

To kick off activity, GlobalPlatform has launched a ‘call for papers’ to request contributions and case studies to form part of the agenda. Proposals will be considered from members and non-members who are deploying products or services using TEE technology; examples of current service implementations, or projects planned for the coming year, are of particular interest. Those wishing to propose a contribution, should send a brief presentation title and synopsis to seminar-topics@globalplatform.org by Monday, 14 April, 2014.

“As the mobile services industry expands, additional security for mobile devices is paramount,” explains Kevin. “Collaborative development of the TEE provides greater certainty and lower development costs by removing barriers caused by interoperability issues. We are therefore calling on the industry to come forward with case studies and presentation topics which demonstrate the real-life benefits of the TEE. Last year our conference focused on how the TEE was used to protect premium content, support mobile financial and authentication, and its role in enterprise and government. This year we want to continue to demonstrate the flexible security of the TEE, and how it supports the business models of numerous markets. To achieve this, we need to secure input from a range of actors and we are calling on the industry to come forward and contribute.”

This event is the market’s only TEE-focused industry gathering and will be of interest to service providers (including remote content distributors, financial institutions and companies working to develop enterprise solutions), software vendors, device manufacturers, platform providers and mobile network operators. The conference offers a unique opportunity to analyze the entire TEE ecosystem, learn about future business requirements and input into long-term market evolution.

At the time of writing, the conference’s platinum sponsor is Trustonic and gold sponsors are FIME, Gemalto and Giesecke & Devrient. For further information, please email Devon@alliancesmanagement.com.
