GlobalPlatform launches TEE training programme

GLOBAL-PLATFORM

16 July 2014GlobalPlatform, the organisation which standardises the management of applications on secure chip technology, has launched a training programme focused exclusively on leveraging the trusted execution environment (TEE) to enable secure application development and deployment for connected devices. The first session will take place on 29 September 2014 at California’s Hyatt Regency Santa Clara Hotel and Conference Center, one day prior to GlobalPlatform’s dedicated TEE conference.

The half-day training session will be of use to TEE developers and value-added service (VAS) providers that are interested in implementing the TEE across a range of vertical markets including premium content protection, mobile financial services and authentication, as well as enterprise and government.

The course will provide an introduction to GlobalPlatform’s role in creating a standardised TEE that accelerates the deployment of secure applications and their associated assets into connected devices, before progressing on to the technology itself – the structure, architecture and associated APIs – as well as the development and deployment of trusted applications. The session will discuss different use cases to demonstrate how the TEE can be used to support a range of business models associated to various markets.

Christophe Colas, GlobalPlatform’s Device Committee chair, comments: “The conference in Santa Clara marks our second dedicated TEE event as industry demand for specialist knowledge around TEE technology continues to grow. It was a natural decision to co-locate the seminar with GlobalPlatform’s TEE conference, delivered by industry experts that can offer a very close examination of the TEE ecosystem and GlobalPlatform’s role within it. We are excited by this opportunity to interact with delegates to demonstrate the flexible security of the TEE, explain how it supports the business models of numerous markets and help VAS providers to leverage the TEE to better protect their assets and access to their services.”

The half-day TEE training session is open to both GlobalPlatform members and non-members at a fee of US $695 and US $995 respectively. Organisations sending two students will receive a discount of US $50 per student. Organisations sending three or more students will receive a discount of US $100 per student.

To ensure a dynamic working environment, the session will be limited to a maximum of 50 students. To avoid disappointment, interested parties are recommended to register promptly at http://www.teeseminar.org/about_the_workshop.asp.

Registration for the ‘GlobalPlatform Presents the TEE: Next Generation Mobile Security for Today and Tomorrow’ conference, 30 September in Santa Clara, is also now open. Visit the event website for more information.
